In Dioceses throughout the United States, January 23 (when Jan. 22 falls on a Sunday as it does this year) is designated as a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. As Catholics we are called to observe this day through the penitential practices of prayer, fasting and/or giving alms, in a way similar to our Lenten practices.
