Father Anthony J. Mpagi was born August 1, 1972 in Nsambya, Uganda (East Africa) the son of Josephat Kwalya Mwebe and Jane Nakitto Mwebe. Attended Nakasero Primary School and Saint Gabriel and Saint Michael Junior Seminary (Primary 1-7). A graduate of Kisubi Minor Seminary. He earned his bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Pontifical Urban University (Saint Mbaaga Seminary) and his bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology from the Collegio Urbano, Rome Italy. He also earned a master's degree in Divinity from Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Father Anthony was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Robert J. McManus of the Diocese of Worcester in Saint Paul Cathedral in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 3 , 2006.
Following ordination he served as associate pastor at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Worcester, Massachusetts. He served as associate pastor at Saint Peter & Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Worcester, before being assigned as Chaplain of African Ministry for the Diocese of Worcester.
Father Anthony was named pastor of Saint Boniface Catholic Church of Lunenburg, Massachusetts in February of 2014 where he served as pastor through July 2021.
In July 2021, he became the pastor of Saint James Catholic Church in Grafton, Massachusetts.
In July of 2022, Father Anthony became the pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish, the newly formed Parish of the Catholic Churches of Saint James, Saint Mary, and Saint Philip.
